Generic Conventions of Thriller

Editing

Thriller films often use quick cuts to create tension and quicken the pace. An example of this ebing used in in the movie Psycho when the woman is being stabbed in the shower.

Flashbacks are used to see the characters past

Sound
Sound is a key element which makes up a thriller. Different pitches and instuments help change the atmosphere in the scene from jumpy and loud to slow and sketch noises.

Camera Shots/Angles
Different camera shots and movements create meanings with the use of body language and emotions.
Many thriller movies use Close Ups to show the characaters facial expression to show how they are feeling at that certain moment.
Tracking which is a fast past camera movement can create tension and curosity giving a sense of  uncertanty about what is going to happen next
Freehand camera movements can help make the ausdience feel as if they are a part of the movie and gives a panicy yet realistic feel.

Mise en Scene
Low Key and Dark lighting help create a gloomy mood and suspense.
Props such as knives, guns and other weapons are used in thriller films.
Certain locations are used in thriller movies. Locations such as a dark, sketchy place over a bright summers day would relate more to the scene

A Bad Day

After finishing our filming and starting to edit our film everything was going well.
Until when we showed our 2 minute finished clip and she told us to refilm.

The dialogue in our movie wasn't working and some parts of our clip didn't match.

This means we have to refilm a big part of our clip and change some of our clip of which we have arranged to film on Friday 14th March and Wednesday 20th March and try to remake our clip so we get a good grade.

End of filming Ignorance

Sunday 3rd March

Today we went to the Drama Studio at Redcliffe with one of our actors (Tara) and 3 of our production team (Tyrone, Khan and Myself) to get the last part of our filming complete.

Props needed: Fake blood, chair, rope
Area: Drama Studio, Redcliffe School

The lighting in the room was great for our film as the lighting was low key which made the atmosphere look weary to viewers, we could also change the lightening if needed as there were many light switches of which helped us to change our minds if needed.

We now have all of our filming completed so we can now focus on our blogs and editing our movie to make 'Ignorance" a good hit with our target audience.

Ignorance - Context

Cost, Production company, Actors, Marketing

The film Ignorance would most likely be finaced by an Indie Label such as Film4.

Puncture which is a simular Drama/Thriller film is financed by an indie label

If we used one main actor of which is well known to the media to star in our film as the film is targetted at young male and women it will appeal to both as a young male character is acting and as it is a thriller film it shall appeal to both genders.
